Father Accused of Child Abuse and Violence: A Tragic Case of Domestic Violence
A father has been accused of being involved in the death of his 5-year-old daughter, as reported by Washington officials. The incident occurred on May 29 when the Federal Way police responded to a call made by Woo Jin Hahn, 29, who reported an emergency situation. Hahn informed the dispatcher that his daughter was not breathing, and he attempted to administer CPR as instructed over the phone. When officers arrived at the scene, they found the girl in the bedroom with visible injuries, including cuts on her forehead and bruises on her face.
Hahn admitted to disciplining his daughter, which resulted in the bruises on her body. His girlfriend, who was present at the time, revealed that Hahn had been physically abusing the girl by punching her in the stomach the day before. The investigation uncovered disturbing details about the abuse the girl had endured, including being tied to a training toilet due to her habit of touching her feces. Hahn confessed to hitting his daughter with a metal cup to correct her behavior of only drinking water and refusing to eat.
The girlfriend of Hahn, who had been in a relationship with him for four years, described him as controlling and prone to anger outbursts over minor issues. She even took photos of the girl's bruises after witnessing Hahn's violent behavior, but he confiscated her phone to prevent her from reporting the abuse. Hahn was initially charged with murder, but the charges were later revised to assault of a child – domestic violence and interfering with domestic violence reporting. He is currently held on a $5 million bail and is expected to appear in court on June 17.
