Alert: Increased Threat to Israeli and Jewish Communities in the U.S. - FBI and DHS Warning
The FBI and Department of Homeland Security (DHS) have issued a joint public service announcement cautioning the public about an increased threat to Israeli and Jewish communities in the U.S. due to ongoing safety concerns during the Israel-Hamas conflict. A recent incident in Boulder, Colorado, involved an Egyptian national, Mohamed Sabry Soliman, who allegedly attacked pro-Israel demonstrators with Molotov cocktails, resulting in injuries to several individuals. Soliman, whose visa expired in March 2025, expressed anti-Zionist sentiments and targeted the group intentionally.
In a separate incident in Washington, D.C., a pro-Palestinian individual, Elias Rodriguez, fatally shot two Israeli embassy staff members, Yaron Lischinsky and Sarah Milgrim, as they were leaving an event at the Capital Jewish Museum. Rodriguez, believed to have acted alone, was apprehended after the attack and was heard shouting pro-Palestinian slogans. The FBI and DHS have warned of the potential for further violence against Jewish and Israeli communities and their supporters, urging the public to report any suspicious activities or threats to law enforcement.
The FBI and DHS emphasize the importance of remaining vigilant and reporting any concerning behavior or threats to law enforcement agencies. The ongoing Israel-Hamas conflict may incite violent extremists and hate crime perpetrators to target Jewish and Israeli communities in the U.S. Foreign terrorist organizations could also exploit the conflict to inspire attacks within the country. It is crucial for individuals to stay alert and report any suspicious activities to ensure the safety of the community.
