Preserving History: Restoring the Tarrytown Lighthouse After Vandalism
A recent incident at the Tarrytown Lighthouse in Sleepy Hollow, New York, has left the historic structure damaged and in need of repairs. A group of four individuals broke into the lighthouse, set a fire, and vandalized the interior, causing significant destruction to valuable antiques, furniture, and other items. Over its 74 years of operation, the lighthouse housed 14 keepers and their families before being decommissioned in 1961. County Executive Ken Jenkins expressed outrage at the despicable act and vowed to identify and bring the perpetrators to justice. County police have released surveillance photos of four individuals near the lighthouse and are seeking the public's assistance in identifying them. Despite the damage caused by the break-in, officials remain committed to restoring the lighthouse to its former glory and preserving its historical significance for future generations.
