Escape from Captivity: Woman's Plea for Help at Sandwich Shop Leads to Rescue in Florida

A woman in Florida managed to escape from a situation where she claimed she was being held against her will by leaving a note with a plea for help at a local sandwich shop. The Santa Rosa County Sheriff’s Office responded to the report of the note found in the restroom of a business in Navarre. The note indicated that the woman feared for her life and was being held against her will at a nearby home. The business where the note was found was identified as a Jersey Mike’s restaurant, and an employee discovered the note.

The employee, Eleanor Coffee, described finding the crumpled note next to the toilet paper dispenser and realizing it was a plea for help. The note asked for assistance, provided an address in Navarre, and requested a police wellness check. Authorities identified Jordan Williams, 34, as the woman’s suspected captor. Williams and the woman had a history of domestic violence incidents with the sheriff’s office.

Upon arriving at the home, the woman was located and shared details of the abuse she had endured, including assaults, threats with weapons, and being isolated by Williams for several months. The woman had visible injuries and was taken to a local hospital for treatment of suspected broken bones and other trauma. Williams was arrested on multiple felony charges, including Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon, Kidnap-False Imprisonment, and Battery by Strangulation.

The employee who found the note expressed sympathy for the woman and her family, hoping that such a situation would not occur again. The quick action taken by the authorities and the employee at the sandwich shop helped the woman escape from a dangerous situation and receive the necessary support and care.
