"Wrongful Death Lawsuit Filed Against City of Sioux City and Emergency Responders in Medication Error Case"
[!CDATA[A lawsuit has been filed against the City of Sioux City, the Sioux City Police Department, Sioux City Fire Rescue, and several individuals by the mother of a man who died after being injected with the wrong medication by an EMT. The incident occurred when 26-year-old James Joseph Foster Jr. was found lying in a deserted street and was injected with a paralytic medication instead of the intended drug, Ketamine. Despite Foster's distress and pleas for help, the responders did not provide adequate medical attention, leading to his death two days later. The lawsuit alleges that Paramedic Deanna LaMere injected Foster with rocuronium instead of Ketamine, causing him to experience difficulty breathing and go into cardiac arrest. LaMere failed to notify anyone of the medication error until they reached the emergency room, where she informed the ER physician. LaMere is facing charges of involuntary manslaughter for her actions in the case. Foster, a father of two girls, was known for his sense of humor and adventurous spirit. The lawsuit seeks damages for excessive force and medical malpractice, holding the defendants accountable for their role in Foster's tragic death. The City of Sioux City has stated that they will vigorously defend against the allegations in the lawsuit.]]
