"Teenager Escapes Captivity in New Jersey Home: Shocking Details of Abuse and Kidnapping Case"

[!CDATA[A teenager managed to escape from a New Jersey home where she and her younger sister were allegedly held captive in a dog crate by a couple who are now facing charges of abuse and kidnapping. The couple, Brenda Spencer and Branndon Mosley, are also accused of aggravated assault, criminal restraint, and other serious offenses. The older sibling, now 18, reported being sexually assaulted by Mosley during the nearly eight years of abuse in their Gloucester Township home. The 18-year-old girl fled the house on May 8 and sought help from a neighbor who then contacted the police. The Gloucester Township Police Chief described the case as one of the most despicable he had ever encountered. The teenager was found at a convenience store with the neighbor and later revealed the alleged abuse to the authorities. The teen disclosed that the abuse began in 2018 when she was taken out of school and forced to live in a dog crate for a year before being confined to a padlocked bathroom. She was reportedly chained up and only allowed out when family visited. The girl also claimed to have been physically and sexually abused by Mosley. The authorities found her living in appalling conditions with various animals in the house. The investigation led to the discovery of another 13-year-old girl living in the same home, who had also been removed from school at Spencer's discretion. Both girls were homeschooled. The teens are now safe, and the defendants, Spencer and Mosley, are in custody at the Camden County Correctional Facility awaiting detention hearings. The couple had no prior incidents reported at their residence, and Spencer was unemployed while Mosley worked as a train conductor for SEPTA. The authorities are urging anyone with information to come forward. The defendants are set to appear in court for their hearings, and it is unclear if they have legal representation at this time.]]
