"Captivity Horror: New Jersey Couple Arrested for Allegedly Keeping Woman Captive for Seven Years"

[!CDATA[A couple from New Jersey has been arrested for allegedly keeping an 18-year-old woman captive in their home for seven years under appalling conditions. Brenda Spencer, 38, and Branndon Mosley, 41, were taken into custody after the woman's daughter escaped and reported the abuse to a neighbor. The victim claimed she was sexually abused by Mosley, kept in a dog cage, and later confined to a padlocked bathroom where she was chained. The couple had a security system and "Beware of dog" signs around their Gloucester Township home. Spencer is the mother of the captive woman and was unemployed at the time of her arrest. Mosley, her boyfriend, worked as a train conductor for a municipal bus operation for 18 years but is now on indefinite leave. The abuse reportedly began in 2018 when the victim was pulled out of traditional school for homeschooling. She described being confined in a dog crate, chained in a bathroom, and kept in a bare room with minimal facilities, monitored by an alarm system. The victim also alleged physical and sexual abuse by Mosley. Both Spencer and Mosley were charged with various offenses related to the case. Mosley faced additional charges as well. The victim managed to escape on May 8 and sought help from a neighbor who reported the abuse to authorities. The woman was described as hysterical and had been subjected to severe conditions, including being confined in a dog crate and having her head shaved as punishment. The Gloucester Township Police Department Chief, David Harkins, described the situation as horrific and emphasized the need to protect the victim's confidentiality due to the ongoing investigation. The victim's physical and mental state following her escape was not disclosed, but it was acknowledged that she would likely have suffered significant psychological, physical, emotional, and mental damage from her seven-year captivity. The authorities are working to ensure the victim's well-being and bring justice to those responsible for the abuse.]]
