"Man Sentenced to Federal Prison for Antisemitic Threats Against Nevada Senator Jacky Rosen"
[!CDATA[A man from Las Vegas has been sentenced to nearly four years in federal prison for making antisemitic threats against Nevada U.S. Sen. Jacky Rosen and her family. Rosen, who is Jewish and supports Israel, was targeted by the man, John Anthony Miller, who also made threats against another U.S. senator. Miller pleaded guilty to threatening a federal official and other charges in December and was sentenced to 46 months in prison followed by three years of supervised release. In October 2023, Miller made threatening calls and left voicemails containing antisemitic slurs to Rosen, referencing the Israel-Hamas war and the Holocaust. He also went to a federal courthouse in Las Vegas looking for Rosen but was turned away after refusing to provide identification. Outside the courthouse, he shouted threats against Israelis. Miller was arrested a week later and has been in custody since then. Miller's lawyer, Jess Marchese, stated that Miller struggles with a drug addiction and was under the influence of methamphetamine during the crimes. Despite feeling that the sentence was harsh for a nonviolent offender with a minimal criminal record, Marchese respects the court's decision and hopes that Miller can address his addiction issues and move forward. Threats against public officials, like those made by Miller, are taken seriously, as stated by a spokesperson for Rosen's office at the time of Miller's arrest. It is important to address and condemn such behavior to ensure the safety and security of elected officials and their families.]]
