[!CDATA[Body camera footage captured the moment Chicago police apprehended a passenger who was found carrying a loaded gun on a plane at O’Hare International Airport just before departure. The passenger, Besnik Ismajlaj, managed to get through security with the weapon during a TSA shift change and boarded the flight with a Glock 9mm semiautomatic in his carry-on bag. The newly released video shows Ismajlaj being escorted off the aircraft from first class by authorities. He admitted to the officers that the gun was in his bag and claimed he had forgotten about it. Ismajlaj remained calm and cooperative as the officers searched his backpack and discovered the pistol. Ismajlaj, a resident of St. Charles, Ill., bypassed Security Checkpoint 2 at O’Hare’s Terminal 1 during a TSA shift change on April 15. Despite a TSA agent noticing the gun on the X-ray machine, Ismajlaj quickly grabbed his bag and left for his flight before the weapon could be confiscated. Another traveler in the security line provided a description of the armed passenger to the authorities. Following his removal from the plane and subsequent arrest, Ismajlaj was placed in the back of a police van on the tarmac and taken to a holding room where he was informed of his Miranda rights. The incident led to Ismajlaj being charged with a misdemeanor for carrying a concealed firearm at the airport. He is scheduled to appear in court on June 9.]]
