"Uncovering the Nakba: A Palestinian Family's Journey to Justice and Preservation"
[!CDATA[My father's life changed dramatically at the age of 23. He was the favored son of a prominent landowner in southern Palestine, set to inherit the family legacy. However, the events of May 15, 1948, known as the Nakba, altered everything. The family was forcibly displaced, labeled as "absentees," and their properties were seized during the founding of the state of Israel. Overnight, they became refugees, losing their lands, homes, and businesses. Born in 1962 in Al Bireh, near Ramallah, the author's family eventually moved to the United States. Growing up, he faced challenges as an immigrant, turning to wrestling and martial arts for protection. Despite a successful career in the music industry, he felt compelled to hide his Arabic identity. The author's quest for truth led him to uncover evidence of his family's prosperous past and the injustices they faced. After years of research and gathering documents such as land deeds and tax records, the author established the Bseiso family archive, the largest known collection of original documents from a single Palestinian family detailing land ownership before the Nakba. In 2019, he began digitizing the records, and in 2025, BFArchive.org was launched to make Palestinian history more accessible. The author's goal is to seek justice and compensation for the unlawful seizure of property from his family and others. The archive serves as legal and historical evidence of dispossession, shedding light on a broader pattern of injustice. As the global conversation shifts towards recognizing Palestinian rights, the author hopes to set the record straight and highlight the deep losses suffered by his family and community. The archive not only preserves legal documents but also oral histories that recount a time of community, coexistence, and peace before the Nakba. These stories bear witness to the exile, erasure, and ongoing injustices faced by Palestinians. The author's mission is to ensure that these truths are preserved and acknowledged, challenging the narrative of erasure and reclaiming the rightful place of Palestinians in their history and homeland.]]
