Full Moon Alert: The Flower Moon rises today!

Something a little different about May's full moon is that it's a Micromoon, meaning it may look a bit smaller and dimmer than usual.Micromoons occur when a full moon coincides with when it's farthest from Earth in its orbit. As a result, the micromoon will appear about 14% smaller and 30% dimmer than usual.Even so, May's full moon reaches peak illumination during the day, at 12:56 p.m. EDT, but will appear full to stargazers Monday and Tuesday night.Cloudy, rainy skies could block viewing for many, but hopefully some breaks in the clouds will allow for viewing.Check our weekly weather planner ..
